VAXscan on Alpha or Integrity

Move your VAXscan environment to Alpha or Integrity

VAXscan is a direct port of VAXScan to OpenVMS on Alpha or Integrity.

Like VAXScan for the VAX/VMS platform, VAXscan for Alpha or Integrity is a high level language designed for text processing that runs on OpenVMS. In addition to the commonplace string operators such as concatenation, substring, extraction and comparison, VAXscan has powerful constructs for matching complex text patterns and sorting. These capabilities make VAXscan particularly useful for building filters, translators, extractors, pre-processors, and parsers.

VAXscan can use the Language-Sensitive Editor (LSE) and with Source Code Analyzer (SCA), to further aid in the development of programs. VAXscan is implemented based on the lexical and semantic modules from the VAXScan Compiler, which generate an intermediate representation of the SCAN modules in ANSI C code. Because of this, VAXscan requires an installed DEC C compiler. VAXscan modules can be linked with modules written in other OpenVMS languages to produce an executable image that can be executed by the OpenVMS RUN command.

It looks like VAXScan. Original VAXscan modules can be linked with modules written in other OpenVMS languages to produce an executable image that can be executed by the OpenVMS RUN command.

VAXscan provides support for error diagnostics to the Language-Sensitive Editor (LSE) cross-reference information to the Source Code Analyzer (SCA), to further aid in the development of programs.
